project description:
eclipse is a table lamp. the main purpose of the project is to show the light as a reflection instead of showing it directly. the light spreads through scattering on two surfaces in order to not diffuse the light directly.

ideation:
from the beginning, all ideation process focused on reflecting light instead of diffusing the light directly. table lamps should not show the light source directly owing to their objectives, distances between users. seeing the light source without any obstacle might discomfort the users’ eyes. therefore, the ways of hiding the light have been searched with sketches.

finally, two separated semi-sphere shapes have been decided to reflect the light from their center. sketches and mock-ups demonsrated the efficiency and usefulness of the problem statement. eclipse provides homogenous lighting when you are working at your table. it is opened by a switch placed near the lamp. the small part of the lamp is rotatable. this feature allows you to control the light amount.

1. when the small part moves the direction of backward and forwards, the light amount is changing.

2. when the small part moves the direction of left and right, the light direction is changing.
